The town of Albufeira is a good example of a typical Algarve town. It is an old town complete with picturesque, whitewashed houses and a number of churches, all renovated after an earthquake in the 1800s meaning that the architectural styles are varied and interesting. The old town also has a number of interesting Moorish sights. In addition to its historical attractions, the town of Albufeira also has seven beaches and a modern marina. The vibrant nightlife in the town is also an attraction making the town very busy during the summer. Albufeira has a mild year round climate so whilst it is extremely popular in the summer months, visitors can also enjoy a break in the winter. Albufeira is only forty minutes from the Algarve`s main airport at Faro. This ideal location makes it a perfect place from which to visit other areas of the Algarve whether it is other beaches, other towns or tourist attractions such as water parks. Buses and trains are easy to use in the area but most visitors prefer the flexibility of car hire and there are of plenty places offering Albufeira car hire. Hiring a car, whether for a day or for a week, allows visitors to truly experience everything the Algarve has to offer.
